Meet Luna, The Girl Who Plays Golf on The Moon

No grass, no problem! Meet Luna, the 12-year-old girl who plays golf on the ‘moon’.
Luna lives in Sal, Cabo Verde. She likes many sports, like surfing and snorkelling, but her favourite is golf. In this short documentary, she says she especially enjoys the sound the ball makes when it hits. Luna trains on the desert terrains of the island, knowing that the area, to be a proper golf field, lacks grass.
However, she explains that water is precious and highly needed in more vital issues of living on Sal, so she doesn’t mind playing on the sand.

Water on Sal
Water on Sal is one of the most valuable resources. The island has no natural water source, and rain is rare. Sometimes rainfall occurs only a few days a year. But where there is a will, there is a way. Freshwater is produced by desalinating seawater or imported from other countries (mainly Portugal). Its most important use is drinking, maintaining general hygiene, and keeping plants alive. It’s precious and crucial for survival on this desert island. That’s why it’s used wisely and, above all, for vital purposes.
